Mural honoring Michael Brown at Signature Screenprinting, 1902 Union Blvd. (on the corner of Cote Brilliante and Union), a screen printing business. The artwork reads, "Mike Brown, RIP, Stop the Violence, Hands Up".
The owner wanted to make the artwork into prints, but local artist Joe Ryan suggested he paint a mural. He saw the message on the side of the Ferguson QuikTrip, but felt words around the mural were negative.
"We wanted something permanent up here anyway," said Natasha Harris, a co-owner of the building. "And that's better than a billboard so this is our contribution to nonviolence and help remember and help keep the movement going."
Joe Ryan started the mural 9 days after Michael Brown was killed. He finished it the same day.
