Part 2 of the poem, "The Cure," is set in Athens, Greece, and particularly in the Royal Park--known officially since 1920 as the Royal Garden. It describes the meeting with "Taki" in the Royal Park in Athens. Langdon Hammer writes that Taki: "a sweet young man who’d been a sexual partner for [Tony] Parigory and then Merrill that spring, had been run over and killed while taking a nap in the shade of another driver’s truck" (321.)
