- P. (2) contains the poem "A deed of the pen (the transfer of the Louisiana Territory)" by Louis Dodge, as well as a letter from Walter B. Stevens, Secretary of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, commenting on the appropriateness of the title and illustration for the fair.
- T.p. ill.: burgundy border; drawing of a woman in a long, white, medieval inspired gown with a gold fleur-de-lis pattern and a gold hem, holding a map of the Louisiana Territory in her right hand, and pointing to it with her left; behind her is a blue fleur-de-lis, and behind that are outlines of the tops of buildings, with banners and trumpeters atop the buildings; on either side of the woman are gold, round finials with the words "Saint Louis 1904" on one, and "World's Fair March" on the other.
