- "This book explores what it means to map a sense of place. All maps are subject to errors of accuracy and precision. There is a barrier between the physical truth and the representation of things. For this reason the maps within this book do away with the guise of accuracy. They serve to reflect a specific time, a fleeting moment. They are constructed of both data and emotion. They are universal not by being generic but by touching upon the personal and unique. What follows is a collection of observations and pictures taken from Cherokee Street in St. Louis, MO along with some quotes from relevant sources on mapping and place. The collected material is presented in the order that it was experienced by the author as he walked from Nebraska to Jefferson."
