- The Louisiana newspaper, The Thibodaux Minervera, published on the 22nd about the attempted escape of "a party consisting of nine" enslaved people. It describes the involvement of "white agents" and the capture of five enslaved people. One person made their escape, and one person who was expected was suspected not to be on the boat. Mary Meachum, understood to have provided a place of "rendezvous" for the agents, was arrested.
