Greek and Latin Poetry
Early editions of Pindar, Aeschylus, and Euripides, and a translation of Catullus by Celia and Louis Zukofsky
Euripides (1503)
The first printed edition of the plays of Euripides, the so-called Aldine Edition, published by Manutius Aldus in Venice in 1503.
Aeschylus (1557)
Edition of the tragedies of Aeschylus printed by Swiss Printer and scholar Henri Éstienne, often known as Stephanus. Stephanus is also known for his editions of Plato (which gave us the numbering system we still use in Plato’s texts), and for his "Thesaurus Graecae Linguae", a key work of Greek lexicography.
Catullus (1961)
Text of the poems of Catullus with translations by modernist poets Celia and Louis Zukofsky, who attempted to recreate the sound of Catullus’ Latin in English
