As Stanley tells it, one evening while listening to Neil Diamond’s Greatest Hits, he had the idea for his own “greatest hits” collection. He included one short story and two novellas as well as an excerpt from each of his four published novels so far. The book was awarded The Southern Review Prize for Best Collection of Short Fiction.
